Leeds United’s focus may now be on signing Barcelona left back Junior Firpo, but they did snap up an exciting teenager last week in Amari Miller.
Yes, first-team additions make the headlines and will ultimately be key to Leeds’ hopes of progressing next season.
A focus throughout Victor Orta’s time at the club has though been to sign players for the developmental squad, landing Under-23 players for the future.
Pascal Struijk is a major success story of this policy, whilst Sam Greenwood, Crysencio Summerville and Joe Gelhardt are all exciting additions from last summer.
Now, Leeds have snapped up Miller from Birmingham City, confirming the deal last Monday. Leeds have paid an ‘undisclosed fee’ and handed Miller a deal until 2025.
It may be some time until we see Miller in the Leeds first team. Yes, he’s featured for Birmingham in the Championship at just 18, but it’s a big step up to the Premier League.
So what are Leeds getting in Miller?
Primarily a winger, Miller can also play up front if needed and looks to be a major talent for the future.

He now follows in the footsteps of his former Birmingham boss Lee Bowyer in heading to Leeds, and he would no doubt love to have even half the Leeds career Bowyer enjoyed.
Bowyer played 265 games for Leeds, scoring 55 goals in the process; imagine Miller ending up reaching those kinds of levels!
Bowyer has previously hailed Miller, branding him ‘fearless’ and a player with ‘great potential’, praising his pace and end product in the final third.
That’s all lofty stuff for 18, and Leeds will now hope to see that talent emerge at Elland Road over the coming years.
