Ledley King has named three strikers who could replace Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Harry Kane left Tottenham Hotspur last summer for pastures new with Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich signing the English forward.

Ange Postecoglou’s side did not sign an out-and-out striker to replace the Englishman, instead focusing on key defensive additions as well as Brennan Johnson, who came in as a wide forward.

The North London club clearly felt that with Richarlison and Heung Min-Son, they had more than enough firepower to alleviate the loss of Kane but the Lilywhites failed to achieve Champions League qualification.

King names three forwards Spurs should go for this summer

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Tottenham defender Ledley King has named three players who he believes would be more than adequate replacements for Kane.

“I still think that we need a centre forward,” King said. “It’s difficult to find out who. Finding a top, top striker is at a premium.

“I really like [Alexander] Isak at Newcastle but that’s probably not going to happen.

“I like [Dominic] Solanke at Bournemouth, Evan Ferguson at Brighton. Solanke’s had a good season. I’d like to see us get an out-and-out striker.”

Any three of these additions would be welcomed ones for Postecoglou’s side with Dominic Solanke and Alexander Isak both finishing high in the Premier League goalscoring charts.

A new striker will be key

The North London club have to target Champions League football next season and the addition of a new striker, who can be relied upon to score 20+ goals in a season, will be vital.

Solanke and Isak would certainly provide this but Evan Ferguson, who struggled at Brighton & Hove Albion last season, does not offer this.

Ferguson would certainly be an interesting option, however, and he could potentially blossom into a superb centre-forward under Postecoglou, who had a habit of improving his players’ performances during his debut season at the Lilywhites.
