Alderweireld’s future at Spurs remains in doubt, with Manchester United reportedly keen.

Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King has told the Daily Express that he is keen to see Toby Alderweireld remain in north London beyond the end of the summer transfer window.
Belgium international Alderweireld is gearing up to face England on Thursday night at the World Cup in Russia, but his Spurs future remains up in the air with only a year left on his £50k-a-week contract (Daily Mail).
The Express’ article claims Manchester United are interested in signing the 29-year-old defender and are willing to fork out as much as £50million, but Spurs are said to want an eye-watering £70million.

Former England and Spurs centre-back King told the Express that he hopes Alderweireld remains at Spurs ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, but believes that the defender will only be concentrating on the World Cup at the moment.
“At the moment I’m sure he’s concentrating on Belgium and after that, he’ll let the situation take care of itself,” King said. “He’s obviously a top player but last season he didn’t play too many games, he missed a lot through injury.
“The team seemed to cope and do well without him. He’s a top player, of course I’d like to see him stay.”

Alderweireld managed only 21 appearances in all competitions last season, as his contract demands saw Mauricio Pochettino reduce his game time in north London.
He is now set to partner Spurs teammates Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele for Belgium against England, who boast Spurs stars Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier.
