Tottenham Hotspur hero Ledley King has told Bleacher Report that he thinks Cameron Carter-Vickers is a better defender than he was.
Tottenham’s youth academy has produced current first team stars such as Harry Winks and Harry Kane, as well as players featuring elsewhere, such as Ryan Mason, Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll.
Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to develop more young players during his time at White Hart Lane, and one player on the cusp of being a first-team regular at Spurs is defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The 19-year-old, who joined Spurs at the age of 11, has been coming up through the ranks at White Hart Lane, and has made four first-team appearances this season.
A United States youth international despite being born in Southend, Carter-Vickers has been touted for stardom with Tottenham – and he has received a glowing review from Spurs hero Ledley King.
King, a former centre back who also came up through the ranks with Tottenham, racked up more than 300 appearances for Spurs before ending his career as a one-club man, and he remains a hero with Tottenham fans.

Now, the former England international has told Bleacher Report that he has been impressed with Carter-Vickers’ ‘eagerness to learn’ and his desire to improve in order to reach the top level of the game.
King added that he thinks Carter-Vickers is more physical than he was, and is even a better defender too – comments that will lead Spurs fans to believe that Carter-Vickers is destined for a first-team spot with Spurs in the near future.
“What impressed me most was his eagerness to learn,” said King. “He really wanted to improve and get to the highest level. He’s probably more physical than I was as a young kid coming through. Maybe a better defender than I was, too. But on and off the pitch, I can see characteristics in our demeanour, our determination to want to improve and want to get to the top,” he added.
