LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a hard-fought 116-114 win over the Phoenix Suns, making the difference when it mattered most.

James finished with 26 points, but it was his steady hand at the free-throw line that ultimately made the difference. In the closing seconds, he hit three out of four attempts to help close out a tight game.

LeBron took charge of four straight free throws in the closing moments and hit three of them to help secure an important win for LA. The first one came from a technical foul, a situation where Doncic is usually called upon. But on this occasion, LeBron took over and delivered when it counted.

LeBron James’ most vital moment came when he defended Grayson Allen

But it wasn’t on the offensive end where James made his biggest impact. It was a single, disciplined defensive play late in the game that proved decisive.

With the Suns needing a basket, Grayson Allen found himself matched up against James and tried to create space for a shot.

James recalled, “Funny thing is, I was just watching a highlight of him the other day when they played Minnesota and he had that same step-through move. For some odd reason, that clicked into my head when he kind of pump-faked.”

“I knew he was going to the one-two step-through, so I was able to get my hand on the ball and get the block the short way, and Marcus was able to get the rebound and foul.”

James managed to avoid the foul, Allen couldn’t convert, and the Lakers held on for the win. It was a moment that showed just how valuable preparation and film work can be.

The game had its share of tension as well, highlighted by a heated exchange between James and Suns forward Dillon Brooks. Brooks picked up a technical during that back-and-forth, a call that ended up playing a role in how close the game finished.

Moments like these serve as reminders that even late in his career, LeBron’s understanding of the game remains one of his greatest strengths – something this Lakers side still leans on.

While Luka Doncic has taken over more of the offensive responsibilities and is having an excellent season, it’s LeBron’s experience and awareness that often provide stability when things get tight down the stretch.
