LeBron James has made his first important decision since signing with the Philadelphia 76ers in the offseason.

Even at 41, James was still the biggest talking point in free agency, as many constantly debated where he would go.

LeBron’s signing has been incredibly well received in Philadelphia, and fans will be desperate to buy his jersey this summer.

Having worn the number 23 and 6 throughout his NBA career, James has decided which number to wear next season.

LeBron James’ Philadelphia 76ers jersey number confirmed

LeBron James has chosen to continue playing with the number 23 on the back of his jersey with the Philadelphia 76ers.

James first picked 23 in his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers after taking inspiration from Michael Jordan.

He then changed to the number 6 with the Miami Heat in 2010, as they had already retired 23 in honour of Jordan.

LeBron wore 23 again in his second stint with the Cavaliers and in his first three seasons with the LA Lakers.

He returned to 6 in 2021 before switching back to 23 in 2023 following its league-wide retirement in honour of Bill Russell.

James has spent the last two seasons with 23 on his back and is now expected to continue with the same number in Philly.

The Sixers have also retired 6 as a tribute to Julius Erving, giving LeBron even more reason to pick his original number, 23.
