Frank Leboeuf has claimed that he is confident the ‘fantastic’ Clement Lenglet can become ‘very useful’ to Antonio Conte if he signs for Tottenham, as he told ESPN.

The former World Cup winner added that, despite Lenglet’s recent struggles at Barcelona, he thinks he can ‘go back to his best’ in north London and under Conte.

Spurs have been one of the busier teams this summer, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Richarlison and Yves Bissouma already through the doors.

It seems as though it will be a matter of time before Lenglet joins, with Spurs also trying to cheekily do a possible deal for Memphis Depay whilst in talks with Barcelona.

Nonetheless, this is what Leboeuf had to say about his fellow countryman possibly heading to Tottenham.

“Lenglet has been a fantastic player,” said Leboeuf. “But has struggled for the last 18 months. I am sure at Tottenham he’s going to be very useful to Antonio Conte and do what he has to do.

“I saw him like three or four years ago, he was huge, for the national team and for Barcelona. I want to believe that he can go back to his best.”

DOES LENGLET START FOR TOTTENHAM?

One thing is for sure, Lenglet doesn’t push ahead of Cristian Romero or Eric Dier if he joins the club.

But with Conte playing a back three, then that offers the 27-year-old another chance of earning regular minutes.

Now, Ben Davies, who is left-back by trade, has played in a back three alongside Dier and Romero.

Whilst he was out of position last season, he was one of Tottenham’s best and most underrated players, as he produced some of his best football since being in north London.

But, at the end of the day, Spurs are in the Champions League, it is an intense schedule they are facing and it’s one where they will need serious depth.
