Garth Crooks has been left less than impressed by West Ham United’s Jesse Lingard’s celebrations of late, as per his comments to BBC Sport.
Lingard has been nothing short of sensational since arriving at West Ham, and has hit the back of the net prolifically.
His joy at playing regularly has been clear to see, with Lingard often dancing in his celebrations.
But Crooks has been less than impressed by the way the attacking midfielder has chosen to react after scoring.
“Yet another top-class performance from Jesse Lingard,” Crooks said.
“Since his arrival from Manchester United the England international has taken the Hammers into the top four and made them look like serious contenders for a Champions League spot.
“Goals matched by bundles of energy, commitment and desire takes the player back to when he was producing excellent performances for Manchester United. He’s doing fantastically for West Ham, but he really needs to leave out the dance celebrations if he wants us to take him seriously.”
Crooks’ comments seem particularly harsh on a player who has been in wonderful form of late.
If anyone deserves to relish every minute he is getting on a football pitch at West Ham, it is Lingard.
The 28-year-old barely played in his final year at Manchester United, but he has been given a new lease of life since moving to the London Stadium.
And if Lingard helps West Ham into the top four, then more of his teammates may well be dancing with him by the end of the season.
