‘Leave now’: Sky pundit sends transfer message to Tottenham player after rumoured Levy call

Jamie O’Hara has urged Dele Alli to leave Tottenham because he has ‘fallen away’ at the club, as he told Sky Sports.

With Antonio Conte walking through the Tottenham doors in recent months, many would have felt that this was yet another chance for Alli to get his career going again.

But it seems as though that’s not going to be the case and one of his biggest fans, Daniel Levy, has seemingly backed the call to allow him to leave when the winter transfer window re-opens, according to the Athletic

From falling down the pecking order towards the back end of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign and not being able to really pick himself up again, it has been one almighty decline from the goalscoring midfielder.

Those Frank Lampard-Esque and David Platt-Esque runs into the penalty box became few and far between over the years and a career that promised so much has dwindled away.

As a result of all of that, O’Hara thinks it’s time Alli moved on and left north London for the sake of his own career.

“He’s a had a great career Spurs,” said O’Hara. “He has really fallen away during the last few seasons.

“You always seem to think he’s back. He started the season well and then he’s fallen away again.

“He needs to leave now. He needs to resurrect his career somewhere else. Go and play some football. Get that confidence back. Get that fire in his belly back. I think that’s what he’s missing. I think he’s lost his desire and determination.

“You look at Dele Alli and there is a player in there. But he needs to go and find it because he has lost his way at Spurs. He’s not in the plans and it’s time for him to move on.”

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is around the corner and someone like Alli is nowhere near Gareth Southgate’s first-team picture.

During the last World Cup in Russia, he was helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals of football’s biggest tournament.

Yet, fast forward to today, and he wouldn’t even make England’s C squad if Southgate put one out.

Whilst Alli does need to leave Spurs, he also needs to remember that he can’t leave just for the sake of it or for any club.

Like Jesse Lingard last season, he needs to make the right call and ensure he finds a club that suits him, his style of play and gets the best out of his talents once more.
