Learner Tien’s impressive rise in tennis has continued at the Australian Open, where he has made the quarter-finals.
Tien demolished Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to deservedly earn his place in the quarter-finals of the Melbourne event.
The young American has now beaten Marcos Giron, Alexander Shevchenko, Nuno Borges, and Medvedev to reach the first Grand Slam quarter-final of his career.
Ahead of a last eight clash with Alexander Zverev, Tien has already made tennis history with his run in Melbourne.

It’s easy to forget just how young the talented American, having just turned 20 years old during the off-season.
After his victory against Medvedev, Tien has become the first male player born in 2005 to make it to a Grand Slam quarter-final.
The American has also become the youngest player to reach the last eight of a Grand Slam since Carlos Alcaraz made the quarter-final of the US Open in 2021.
While the likes of Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton continue to impress at the very elite of tennis, Tien looks set to be the next top American star in the game.

As well as becoming the first player born in 2005 to make a Grand Slam quarter-final, Tien has also broken a 25-year American tennis streak.
He’s become the youngest American player to reach the last eight of a Grand Slam since Andy Roddick managed the feat at the 2001 US Open.
Tien is the youngest American to reach his maiden Men’s Singles Grand Slam quarter-finals since Andy Roddick at the US Open 2001.
Tien could improve on what Roddick managed, as he fell to Lleyton Hewitt in the 2001 US Open final in a five-set thriller.
