Rodrigo Bentancur has told Sky Italia he still has ‘a lot’ to learn about playing in the Premier League after a rude awakening to the English game after a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
Managing Director Fabio Paratici returned to his former side, Juventus, to improve Antonio Conte’s ranks in January. The Spurs chief agreed an initial €19m (£16m) fee for the Uruguay midfielder, plus €6m (£5m) in potential add-ons. His contract in north London runs to 2026.
Bentancur held a sporadic role in Massimiliano Allegri’s plans this season before leaving the Turin outfit after five-years. He had started 13 of 19 Serie A appearances from 23 possible games, in which the 24-year-old offered two assists. He also only received one yellow card.

Conte immediately gave Bentancur his Premier League debut from the bench as Tottenham hosted Southampton. He then started the 47-cap star against Wolves, Manchester City and Burnley. But Conte will be without him at Leeds United on Saturday due to an ankle injury.
Bentancur has ‘a lot’ to learn about Premier League after Tottenham move
Bentancur jarred his leg after slipping on the wet Burnley pitch in midweek as Tottenham suffered a shock 1-0 defeat. Per the Evening Standard, Spurs fear the midfielder may now face three-weeks on the sidelines, putting his involvement at Manchester United in doubt.
Conte will be hopeful of having the Boca Juniors product available at Old Trafford on March 12. Spurs and the Red Devils are among the five teams jostling to take fourth in the Premier League table and qualify for the Champions League. They are currently eighth and fourth.

Bentancur will also be looking to return as soon as possible to continue learning the way of the English game after a rude awakening following his transfer from Juventus to Tottenham has highlighted four key differences between the flow of the Premier League and Serie A.
“Speed, tackles, strength,” he stated, via quotes by TuttoMercatoWEB. “Here, the referees don’t whistle as much and we play more. I still have to learn a lot about this football.”
