Former Tottenham Hotspur player Kyle Walker has claimed that Phil Foden is miles better than Harry Kane on Manchester City’s official website.

Kane has turned into one of the most feared strikers in world football at Tottenham, whereas Foden is really only just starting to make an impact in the Premier League at City.

However, having played with both of the pair, Walker insists that Foden is comfortably ahead in terms of talent.

“He is the best youngster I have ever seen,” Walker said.

“That is after playing at Tottenham with the likes of Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, Andros Townsend, Steven Caulker, Harry Winks, who are very, very good players.

“Phil is leaps ahead of them for me, just because his knowledge of the game.

“I don’t know if it is because he is constantly watching David Silva and learning from him, or just his knowledge of the game.

“I think if he just improves on his final ball, on assisting and his final decision making on that, I think that comes with experience.

“As a player and as a human being, he is top class and I wish him all the best in everything that he does because he deserves it all.”

Kane and Foden are, of course, very different players – but if the playmaker goes on to be as successful as the Tottenham goalscorer, then he will have had a brilliant career.

Kane remains one of the most dangerous front men in the Premier League, and is still arguably Tottenham’s most important player.

Foden does look like a hugely exciting talent for both City and England though.

The 20-year-old has started to be given regular game time by Pep Guardiola recently, and he has seized his opportunity.

Foden has notched four goals in his last six outings, and is expected to have a major role to play next term now.
