Arsenal ace Leandro Trossard has raved about Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku after Belgium’s 5-0 victory over Azerbaijan.

Leandro Trossard scored for Belgium against Azerbaijan on Sunday, but immediately offered up praise to Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku.

Fans up and down the country probably can’t wait for the international break to end.

The run of international breaks between September and November really halts the momentum of the domestic season and tends to leave fans a little bored.

This is the final break of 2023 and the attention will soon turn to a busy festive schedule to come, with this a crucial part of the season.

Leandro Trossard on the scoresheet in Belgium win

Arsenal supporters will be keen to see their key men shine in the international break – as long as they come back unscathed.

The Gunners are going for the Premier League title and Mikel Arteta needs his star players to be fit and firing.

Leandro Trossard is a great example having gone into the break in great form with a goal against Sevilla as well as a goal and an assist in the 3-1 win over Burnley.

Trossard was at it again on Sunday night, scoring Belgium’s final goal in a 5-0 thrashing over Azerbaijan.

This was just Trossard’s second goal for Belgium since June 2022, so he was delighted to get on the scoresheet here – and he was blown away by one Manchester City player.

Trossard hails Jeremy Doku

“It always feels good to score. I’ve been looking for it for a while,” said Trossard. “A Jérémy in this form is extremely dangerous. We will be able to use him very well at the European Championships next year,” he added whilst speaking to Het Belang Van Limburg.

The ‘Jeremy’ spoken of here is Jeremy Doku, who has been shining for City in recent weeks and took his form into Belgium’s win.

The Manchester City ace – who joined for £55million in August – blazed to the byline before cutting back for Trossard to score.

Doku also set up the first of Romelu Lukaku’s four goals, had a big hand in his second and then set up Trossard to make it 5-0.

The 21-year-old remarkably has nine assists in his last 10 outings for club and country, chipping in with two goals in the process.

Doku seems to be taking his game to another level under Pep Guardiola and is taking that form to the international stage.

Trossard and Doku will be rivals in the Premier League title race this season but it’s clear that the Arsenal man is expecting a big impact from the City winger at Euro 2024 having been dazzled by him on Sunday.
