According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are close to signing Leandro Trossard from Brighton.
This news has been welcomed by many Arsenal fans who have been clamouring for a new winger for quite some time now.
Make no mistake about it, Trossard is a quality player. He’s been banging in in the goals in the Premier League this season, and he’s proven his quality at this level for quite some time.
However, as with any transfer, this one does have its caveats, and there is one glaring issue that has emerged over the past fortnight that may prove to be an issue at Arsenal.
Indeed, Trossard has been making headlines this month due to supposed attitude problems at Brighton.

Despite arguably being the Seagulls’ best player, the winger was frozen out of the squad by Roberto De Zerbi after apparently having a bit of a strop in training as he pushed for a transfer.
“Leandro knows very well my opinion. The last training session before the Middlesbrough game, when he understood he wouldn’t play, he left the session without saying anything to me and it’s not good,” De Zerbi said.
“On the Monday, I spoke with him and I explained I don’t like this attitude, this behaviour.”
Trossard seemingly isn’t a player who will put his head down and work hard when things aren’t going his way, he’s prone to kicking up a fuss, and that’s the last thing Mikel Arteta wants or needs at Arsenal right now.
The Spaniard has cultivated an almost perfect dressing room culture at Arsenal. He’s made it abundantly clear that he only wants players who will fit into that dynamic and he doesn’t take kindly to any sort of indiscretion.
Let’s not forget, this is a manager who released his captain and star player over attitude issues just 12 months ago, so signing someone who has had high-profile attitude issues a couple of weeks ago is a rather bizarre piece of business.
Of course, this could just be an out-of-character ploy from Trossard to earn himself a move away from Brighton, but there is an element of risk attached to signing a player who has been at the heart of controversy lately for a manager who simply won’t put up with this type of thing.
Let’s see how this one works out before passing too much judgement, but on first glance, it looks like Trossard could cause a problem or two for Arteta at Arsenal, especially if he doesn’t get the gametime he desires.
