Aston Villa’s nightmare run continues, with the Championship’s biggest spenders still to win a game in 2017.

Last night they lost 3-1 to Barnsley at Villa Park, despite signing two of the Tykes’ best players in the transfer window.

It was a night where no Villa players came away with much credit, only striker Jonathan Kodjia who scored again to pull a goal back after half-time.

One player who supporters are growing increasingly frustrated with is midfielder Jack Grealish, who had four shots at goal in the defeat – but not one hit the target.

While he managed to create two chances, he was hooked after 75 minutes and replaced with Leandro Bacuna, a substitution cheered by the home fans.

Grealish suffered the ignominy of failing to win a single Premier League game he played in last season for Villa, puncturing the confidence he showed in his debut campaign in 2014/15.

While this winless run came to an end this season, Villa are on the slide again and Grealish appears powerless to influence games at present, and manager Steve Bruce has a decision to make whether to drop him for this weekend’s clash away to Newcastle United.

Here is a look at how Aston Villa fans reacted on Twitter to his performance…
