Matt Le Tissier has suggested to Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy could ask questions of manager Mauricio Pochettino if the team do not continue to be successful.

Pochettino has been in charge of Tottenham since the summer of 2014 when he left Premier League rivals Southampton for the North London club.

Spurs have improved steadily over the past three or so years, and have finished in the top four of the Premier League for the past two seasons.

Tottenham have also challenged for the league title for the last two campaigns, but they are out of the running for the championship this season.

There is also a danger that Spurs could miss out on the top four completely this term, and Southampton legend Le Tissier has suggested that club chairman Levy could ask questions of Pochettino if that happens.

Mauricio Pochettino, Manager of Tottenham Hotspur reacts during a Tottenham Hotspur press conference at Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre on December 5, 2017 in Enfield, England.

Le Tissier told Sky Sports: “I think Levy feels like he has the right man in place there, and the club is moving forward.

“But they still do have their work cut out to get into the Champions League. But if they don’t get into that Champions League, does he come under a bit of pressure?

“They’re not near challenging for the title, and if they don’t get into the top four, will Levy look at it and think they’ve gone backwards? Things change so fast these days in football.

“But I’d like to think he’s bought enough credit in the bank with the owners to get another chance if they were to finish outside of the top four.”

Daniel Levy takes his seat in the stand for the game during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland at White Hart Lane on September 18, 2016 in London, England.

Pochettino is one of the best managers in Europe, and Tottenham should persevere with the Argentine even if they do not end up in the top four of the Premier League this season.

True, not getting into the Champions League for the third season in a row would be disappointing, but Pochettino should then be backed and shown support given the work he has done at the club already.
