Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action this weekend looking to strengthen their grip on a top four spot.

Heung-Min Son of Spurs celebrates his teams goal during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United at Wembley Stadium on January 4, 2018 in London, England.

Matt Le Tissier has told Sky Sports that it is a no-brainer, as far as he is concerned, for Son Heung-min to be the man who leads the line for Tottenham in Harry Kane’s absence when they host Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

Spurs will not have their leading goalscorer available for the game against the Blues after he limped off in their most recent Premier League clash: the 4-1 win away at Bournemouth earlier this month.

Son played up front when Mauricio Pochettino’s men travelled to Swansea in the quarter-final of the FA Cup despite recognised striker Fernando Llorente being available – the Spaniard started on the bench and came on with 17 minutes to go – and Le Tissier believes that the South Korea international should keep his place in the first league game since Kane sustained his injury.

“[Heung-Min Son] has had a phenomenal season for Spurs. I was pretty impressed with him last season, getting 21 goals in all competitions, and his consistency levels have improved with another 18 in this campaign. For me it’s a no-brainer for him to start instead for Fernando Llorente at Stamford Bridge with the threat he offers in behind,” he told Sky Sports.

Son has been in sensational form this season, scoring 12 times in the league to make himself Spurs’ most prolific goalscorer behind Kane. He has also managed four assists.

Fernando Llorente in action during the Premier League match between Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur at Liberty Stadium on January 2, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

Llorente meanwhile, boasts just one league goal – he has, admittedly, made just one start in the top flight since his summer switch from the Liberty Stadium – so it would certainly appear to be a much greater gamble to play him up front against Chelsea.

Tottenham can strengthen their grip on a top four spot should they beat Antonio Conte’s men. Victory for Pochettino’s side would take them eight points clear of their opponents with seven games to go.
