Everton are reportedly set to appoint Southampton boss Ronald Koeman as their manager.

Matt Le Tissier explained on The Monday Night Club show on BBC 5 live Sport on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, June 6) why he is surprised that Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is (reportedly) interested in the Everton managerial job.
According to The Mirror, Everton are set to appoint Koeman as their new manager. Southampton legend Le Tissier understands why the Dutchman wants to take the job at Goodison Park, but he is still surprised.

The former England international attacking midfielder has also warned Koeman that he may not be able to achieve success at Everton.
“I was quite surprised that he was going to take that job given what he has done here, given the fact we have got European football next season, but I guess you can’t blame somebody if he has been offered the figures that they are talking about,” said Le Tissier on The Monday Night Club show on BBC 5 live Sport on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, June 6).
“I understand they (Everton) have got a new owner and he is going to splash a bit of cash, but most clubs in the Premier League now are pretty wealthy and can compete for most players in the transfer market,” added the Englishman. “So it might not be as easy a job as he possibly thinks.”

Koeman is a good manager, and perhaps he thinks that leaving Southampton for Everton would be a step-up for him.
While the Saints will be playing in the Europa League next season, there is no guarantee that they will be able to retain their best players this summer.
Southampton have sold some of their best players over the years, such as Adam Lallana and Morgan Schneiderlin, and perhaps Koeman believes that this trend will continue.
Everton are traditionally a bigger club than Southampton, but the Toffees failed to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League this past season.
