Matt Le Tissier is a big fan of Manchester City’s David Silva.
Former Southampton hero Matt Le Tissier has said that Manchester City playmaker David Silva is his current favourite player in the Premier League when asked on social networking site Twitter.
The Spain international star joined the Citizens in the summer of 2010, moving to the Etihad Stadium after establishing himself as one of the best players in La Liga while at Valencia.
His impact at City has been huge, as he has helped the club win two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup success during his five seasons in Manchester.
Silva is widely regarded as one of the best playmakers in Europe and former Southampton star Le Tissier favours the Spaniard over the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Eden Hazard.
He replied on Twitter when quizzed on his favourite current player.
This season, Silva’s absence with injury alongside skipper Vincent Kompany and striker Sergio Aguero has seen Manuel Pellegrini’s side struggle recreate their blistering early season form.
After five straight wins without conceding a goal, City have managed just six league wins in their last 14 matches – a run of form which has seen them slip to third in the table behind Leicester City and Arsenal.
Silva has started just 10 Premier League matches this season, scoring once and adding seven assists. In those 10 matches, City won seven, drew one and lost two – illustrating his importance.
At 29, the diminutive midfielder is arguably entering the peak of his career and keeping him fit will be vital to the club’s aspirations of success both domestically and in Europe.
