Matt Le Tissier was in agreement with Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling that ‘every neutral’ would want to see Leeds United make a return to the Premier League, as he told Soccer Saturday (04/07/20 at 17:20 pm).

It has been nearing on two decades since the Leeds faithful tasted top-flight football, and just like last season, this is their best chance yet of making a return.

Three points away at Blackburn on Saturday helped Marcelo Bielsa’s men maintain a six-point gap on third-placed Brentford – three more wins will end the pain.

After watching the game for Sky, former Southampton striker, Le Tissier, first teased the Leeds fans when he was asked whether ‘every neutral’ would like to see their return to the promised land.

“Probably not,” Le Tissier responded. He then chuckled and added: “I say that because I have two brothers who support Leeds.

“I think it’s a massive football club and one that has been out of the Premier League for too long. I would give you that for sure. Just teasing.”

Whilst the excitement levels will be building amongst the Leeds fans, they will be wary that anything can happen – last season is proof of that.

There is no doubt that their biggest worry will be high-flying Brentford, who have won five games on the bounce without conceding and are still on the tails of the top-two.

But, just like last season, Bielsa’s men have to focus on themselves, and this time, try and finish in the automatic places because they have been the best team in the second-tier for the last 24 months, they just haven’t been rewarded for it.
