The Southampton defender featured for Portugal against France in the Euro 2016 final on Sunday evening.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Jose Fonte’s performance for Portugal against France in the Euro 2016 final on Sunday evening.
Portugal got the better of home nation France 1-0 in extra time, Eder’s stunning goal in the 109th minute proving to be the difference between the two sides at Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
Fonte started the match for Portugal and played for the entire 120 minutes. The 32-year-old defender took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 92%, won 67% of his headers, and made two interceptions, eight clearances and two blocks.

Le Tissier was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of the Southampton centre-back for Portugal against France.

In four matches for Portugal at the 2016 European Championship in France, Fonte had a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and won seven headers, one dribble and two tackles.
During the 2015-16 season, the 32-year-old scored two goals and created five chances in 37 Premier League appearances for the Saints.
