Liverpool take on Southampton this weekend.

Liverpool take on Le Tissier’s former side Southampton at the weekend, with Virgil van Dijk set to face the Saints for the first time since his big money move to Anfield.
Le Tissier believes Van Dijk will be a success at Liverpool, but he needs better players around him.

In addition expressing their need for a new goalkeeper, the pundit picked out three defenders who he feels are not good enough.
Le Tissier said: “I think if Liverpool have realistic ambitions of the title then I think they need a better centre-back partner and goalkeeper.
“Joe Gomez has the potential to be a top defender but Lovren, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan don’t look up to it.”
Speaking specifically regarding former Southampton centre-back Dejan Lovren, Le Tissier added: “Lovren has escaped a bit of criticism for his error which led to Kane’s first penalty because of the controversy.”

Liverpool spent £20 million to sign Lovren in 2014, a move as acrimonious as Van Dijk’s.
He has struggled to match expectations and at times looks bereft of confidence.
Lovren has until the end of the season to try and establish a partnership with Van Dijk, and if he cannot then next summer he could well be replaced by another new addition.
