Le Tissier makes prediction about Celtic’s Champions League chances

Celtic will take on Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht in the group stage of the Champions League this season.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has written on Skysports.com that Celtic getting through to the knockout rounds of the Champions League this season will be a bigger surprise than Leicester City wining the Premier League title during the 2015-16 campaign.

Celtic will feature in the group stage of the Champions League this season for the second year in a row.

The Scottish Premiership giants will take on Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Anderlecht in Group B.

Bayern and PSG are two of the strongest teams in Europe and are among the favourites for the Champions League this season.

Anderlecht are a good team as well, and Celtic are going to find it tough to get out of the group.

Former Southampton attacking midfielder Le Tissier does not expect Celtic to go through to the last 16 of the Champions League this season.

The former England international has claimed that Celtic getting out of the group will be a bigger surprise than Leicester winning the Premier League title in 2015-16.

Leicester created one of the biggest shocks in football history when they beat the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea to the league title in 2015-16, having narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship the previous season.

“Would I described their draw as impossible?” Le Tissier wrote on Skysports.com. “With PSG and Bayern Munich, probably, yes.

“I reckon if Celtic get out of that group then it’s a bigger surprise than Leicester winning the Premier League.

“However, the Europa is probably their more realistic aim and they should have a chance against Anderlecht.”
