Matt Le Tissier said on Sky Sports News (1:11pm, July 18, 2020) that he hopes that West Ham United can keep hold of Declan Rice.

The Southampton legend, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Rice, who can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder, has been excellent for West Ham this season.

Le Tissier believes that it would be a huge boost for the Hammers if they are able to fend off any potential interest in the England international.

According to a report in The Sun in June, Chelsea are interested in signing Rice from London rivals West Ham this summer.

Meanwhile, former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison believes that David Moyes should stay as the West Ham manager next season as well.

Le Tissier said about Rice on Sky Sports News (1:11pm, July 18, 2020): “I certainly hope for West Ham fans’ sake that they can (keep Rice).

“He seems pretty settled at the moment. He seems a pretty level-headed young man, and the way he has performed this season has been absolutely outstanding.

“I think he has been terrific, and it really would be a huge boost, I think, for West Ham if they can keep him this summer.”

Morrison said about Moyes on Sky Sports News (1:07pm, July 18, 2020): “I think you stay with David Moyes. I think he is going to get another year.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Rice has scored one goal and provided two assists in 36 Premier League matches for West Ham this season.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the 21-year-old scored two goals in 34 league matches for the Hammers, according to WhoScored.

West Ham are virtually safe from relegation to the Championship.
