Newcastle have struggled so far this season and have yet to win a game, but how does their start compare to the form shown last year?
The Magpies have yet to win a game in four attempts this season, and have picked up just two points as Alan Pardew has struggled to get his side playing points-winning football. To date, they have conceded nine goals already after Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Southampton.
At the same stage last year, Newcastle had picked up seven points and had played two of the same opponents they have already faced.
Manchester City and Aston Villa were opponents of Newcastle’s inside the first four fixtures this season as well as last year, but the Magpies have really struggled to find any form so far.

The Magpies had picked up five more points at this stage last season, conceding four fewer goals and picking up one more clean sheet than at the same stage this year.
Alan Pardew has seen his side score in just one game this season, with those three goals coming in the home draw against Crystal Palace, and Newcastle have registered fewer shots per game this season too.
They have enjoyed more of the ball this year but that hasn’t helped them to pick up results as their increased possession percentage hasn’t led to much in the final third.
Newcastle entertain Hull in their next fixture and fans will be desperate to see their side pick up three points in that game as Pardew attempts to steer the club away from an early relegation battle.
