The head to head record for Newcastle United v Manchester City.

Newcastle United and Manchester City have met in Newcastle on a massive 82 occasions. Newcastle have a clear advantage in terms of wins with 50 victories to City’s 15 and 17 matches ending in draws. Newcastle have also scored just under double the number of goals with 154 compared to 83. This mans the home side have an average of 1.88 goals per game for this fixture.

Newcastle were outplayed in this fixture last season as Manchester City ran out 2-0 winners at the start of May on their way to the Premier League title. They have also won three out of the four matches before last season with the other match ending in a draw.

The last time Newcastle bat City in front of their own supporters came in the 2005/2006 season when they ran out 1-0 winners. Interestingly they dominated City leading up to that victory winning the four matches before the 05/06 encounter at St. James’ Park.

City don’t have any massive wins over Newcastle in the history of the meetings between the side in the North East. They scored four goals in the 1967/1968 first division match but conceded three in the same fixture.

Newcastle’s biggest recent win over City was a 5-0 demolition of the Manchester club in October of the 1983/1984 season. They also secured back-to-back 4-1 wins over City in the 1957/1958 and 1958/1959 seasons.

Out of all the matches between these sides it’s Newcastle who are ahead with a 42% win rate compared to City’s 34% with the remaining percentage attributed to draws. Interestingly, in terms of all goals scored in all fixtures, City are just 18 goals behind Newcastle.
