Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is planning to give a start to out of favour midfielder Joe Cole for the League Cup match against Swansea City. Cole has not made the impact that many expected since he joined Liverpool having spent a large chunk of last season on loan at Lille.

Allen followed Rodgers to Liverpool over the summer and there is still a great deal of bitter feeling from Swansea fans over the move as Rodgers said he wouldn’t sign any Swansea players.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has backtracked on his comments about local rivals Everton admitting that he went too far. Gerrard launched a seething attack on Everton in the days after the Merseyside derby draw making comments about Everton’s style of play, their manager and certain players in their team.

Liverpool target Isco could cost the club around the £40 million mark. The Malaga play maker could sign a new deal after fresh reports which would force any club trying to sign him to pay up to £40 million for his services. Manchester United are also thought to be tracking the player.

Liverpool transfer target Theo Walcott looks set to remain an Arsenal player after reports have suggested he is about to re-open contract talks with the club. Walcott was said to be unhappy at Arsenal as he was constantly played out of position as he prefers the striker role.

Raheem Sterling could end up playing international football for Jamaica. Sterling has not been used as an international player yet for England and he is due to meet the Jamaican President. It is reported that Sterling is open to the idea of regularly playing for Jamaica due to his family roots ahead of an uncertain future with England.

Captain Steven Gerrard has said that he is ready to stand up for Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez over the coming weeks and months. Suarez has been the consistent target of criticism from the football community over the way he apparently dives to try and win free kicks and penalties.

Suso says he hopes he gets a chance to play for the club in the League Cup final at Wembley. Suso was not part of the Liverpool first team when the club beat Cardiff City in the final last season. He says there is no bigger stage than playing at the best stadium in England.
