Five things Redknapp has to improve at QPR

Harry Redknapp has taken over from Mark Hughes at Queens Park Rangers.

Here are five things he needs to quickly sort out.

The Defence

QPR have one of the worst defensive records in the league with a total of 26 goals conceded home and away. This is not the worst tally but Redknapp is experienced enough to know that the side will not be able to pick up points unless they can start keeping clean sheets. If the defence can solidify and improve, this will flow through the team.

Closing Out Matches

QPR took the lead against Manchester United away at the weekend but slipped off the pace in the later stages of the game which allowed United to come through and win the match. Redknapp has to stress the message of his side closing out games when they get in front because they have some very difficult fixtures left this season where this is going to be important.

Home Form

QPR still haven’t won a match at home this season and we are very close to Christmas. They have a record of three draws and three defeats which simply has to improve because it’s going to be easier for them to pick up points at Loftus Road against the bigger teams in the division. Loftus Road needs to become a fortress where it’s difficult for any side to come and get even a point.

Belief

Redknapp will have to put all of his man management skills to the test because the belief around the club will be very low at the moment. QPR have a very good squad so Redknapp has to get them to believe that they are good enough to start climbing the table and get away from trouble. He can use his experience in similar situations such as when he took over Tottenham who were bottom of the league.

Settled Team

One of the problems for QPR this season has been that the manager doesn’t seem to have known his best eleven going from one week to the next. Redknapp needs to quickly work out his best side and stick with it because chopping and changing constantly will make it impossible for the side to improve and gel together as a unit. A settled team gives QPR the best chance of going on a run.

Are you confident Redknapp can turn it around?
