Luis Suarez could be on the verge of a move away from the Premier League and he should take that chance while it’s there.
There are plenty of reasons why Suarez should leave Liverpool this summer although in an ideal world Brendan Rodgers would have the opportunity to keep him because he’s integral to his Anfield project at the moment.
Suarez seems ready to walk away from English football where he’s constantly been in the headlines for his skills as a player but just as often because of his behaviour and antics.
Here are five reasons he should jump ship.
The Media
The first and most obvious reason relates to the British media who seem all too willing to attack him on a constant basis.
It’s fair enough that he doesn’t help himself half the time but if he stays, the press are going to be watching for the first small sign of a mistake before they pile the pressure onto him, which he doesn’t need.
The Public
He’s often verbally abused in every single away game he plays in for Liverpool and that ties into the media.
No professional player, regardless of how big their ego is, can like being taunted and abused whenever they play for their club. It’s something which is always going to apply to him for as long as he stays in England.
Silverware
Liverpool can punch at their weight in terms of the domestic cup competitions in England but they are a million miles away from winning the league.
Suarez should take the chance to go to a side where he can play a similarly big role in a championship winning team. Success is everything to top players in football and his prospects at Anfield are limited.
Fairness
It’s not fair of Suarez to the club or the supporters if he’s got his mind set on a move away.
If that’s how he’s thinking then he needs to leave now to give the club the best possible chance to react. It would also make the fans respect him a lot more in a move away rather than dragging the saga out.
Champions League
Suarez has no real immediate prospect of playing in Europe’s top competition at the moment.
Rodgers is aiming to make Liverpool a top four side next season, which is going to be very difficult. The calibre of clubs interested in Suarez means he can move and be playing Champions League football quickly.
What do you think is the biggest factor behind his desire to leave?
