Javier Hernandez keeps banging in the goals for Mexico, which is increasing the number of problems for Manchester United boss David Moyes.
It’s quite refreshing that Hernandez has backed up his feelings over his role at Manchester United in the perfect way, through scoring for Mexico this summer.
The issue Hernandez had with Manchester United last season wasn’t with how he was played, it was to do with the number of opportunities he got after proving to be successful as a substitute.
David Moyes is now under massive pressure with Chicharito and how to use him next season. Here are five problems he needs to address with the Mexican forward.
Wayne Rooney
Rooney’s future at Manchester United seems to rest on how Moyes wants to use him in the attack of the side.
Rooney wants to play at the very top of the attack alongside, or instead of, Robin van Persie. Unfortunately, that’s Hernandez’s best position because he’s not a number ten style striker who can drop off into the midfield.
Squad Status
All Hernandez wants is to start playing more games when he’s scoring goals and clearly playing well.
He’s good enough to be that poacher sort of striker in the Manchester United team and that’s something Moyes has to weigh up when he’s thinking about the best way to fit Hernandez into the attacking unit.
Hernandez is fighting with Danny Welbeck for the third position, behind Rooney and van Persie and Moyes has to work out a way to get him to second.
The Fans
Chicharito is a very popular figure with Manchester United fans because of the typically English way he plays; drive, passion, enthusiasm and sheer desire to score goals.
If things don’t start well next season, there will be fan pressure on Moyes to get Hernandez into the team because he scores goals and doesn’t care about how he scores them. He just gets the job done.
Contract
Chicharito’s contract with Manchester United expires in the summer of 2016, which means at the turn of the year, the club will need to start thinking about extending that deal.
If Hernandez’s status alongside the other strikers hasn’t changed, it could mean a refusal to sign a new deal with United, increasing the chances that he’ll push for a move away or the club will be forced to sell him.
Relationships
Hernandez has never been critical of Manchester United in a direct sense and has always maintained positive relationship with the fans, the coaches and the manager.
All of that could go out of the window if Moyes doesn’t handle him differently and he eventually leaves the club.
If Chicharito leaves because of his squad status, he will quite rightly be bitter because he’s given United a huge indication of his feelings and he’s entitled to feel like that if nothing changes.
