Lazio want Sergio Reguilon and talks have been opened with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal – possibly at Nottingham Forest’s expense.
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has made it clear that he doesn’t want Reguilon at the club.
From being left out of the pre-season trip to South Korea to being frozen out of the club’s Premier League squad so far this season, it’s clear that Reguilon has no future at Tottenham.
With a week of the transfer window left to go, time is running out for Reguilon to move on – but he certainly has suitors queueing up for his services.
Lazio want Sergio Reguilon
Tuttomercatoweb report that Lazio are desperate to sign Reguilon, who cost Tottenham £27million in 2020.
Lazio have focused their attention on Reguilon after missing out on Emerson Palmieri, who left Chelsea for West Ham United earlier this week.
It’s stated that Reguilon has decided to put negotiations with Nottingham Forest on hold in order to explore this move to Italy.
The deal would be a loan, and Lazio are trying to work alongside Tottenham to figure out how to split Reguilon’s wages.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica report that Reguilon wants to join Lazio and talks between the two clubs have been going on for days.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito has held talks with Reguilon’s representatives and the Serie A club are seemingly doing everything they can to make a deal happen.
Tottenham won’t stand in Reguilon’s way of course, but it will all come down to just how much of his wages Lazio can really afford to pay.
Tottenham won’t want to pay a huge chunk of the wages for Reguilon to play somewhere else, but they do need to move him on somehow.
This all leaves Forest waiting to hear about Reguilon as they chase a new left wing back.
It sounds like Reguilon’s priority is Lazio as things stand, and Tottenham will be very encouraged at hearing that two clubs want their out-of-favour defender.
