Lazio are ready to send Gael Kakuta back to Chelsea without him having made an impression, reports in Italy suggest.
The wait for French winger Gael Kakuta to finally fulfil his huge promise continues and it looks unlikely to happen at Lazio.
The 22-year-old left Chelsea in the January transfer window to spend the rest of the season with Lazio and there were high hopes that he would impress in Serie A.
Instead, Kakuta has spent a lot of time sitting on the bench and is yet to get a chance to make his mark for the Biancocelesti.
Lazio boss Edy Reja has praised Kakuta’s natural talent, stressing that he had seen few players so gifted, but he also remarked that the ex-Lens man needed time to adapt to playing in a different environment.
Since signing for Chelsea in 2009, Kakuta has been sent out to Fulham, Bolton, Dijon, Vitesse and now Lazio but has never dazzled.
Kakuta has represented France at every level from Under-16 to Under-21 but is yet to win a senior cap for his country, which looks likely to continue while he struggles to even get on the pitch.
