Lazio have made an official statement denying rumours that club president Claudio Lotito is attempting to link the club to Birmingham City.
Serie A side Lazio have poured cold water on recent press speculation that the club’s owner Claudio Lotito is attempting to join forces with Championship side Birmingham City.
Lotito is not the most popular man with the Lazio fans and there have been protests all season at the Stadio Olimpico.
Fans were livid when Lotito agreed the sale of star midfielder Hernanes to Inter in January and recent home games have seen boycotts from the majority of the supporters.
In press interviews Lotito has admitted that the situation is untenable in the long term and it has been suggested that he is on the look out for ways to change his position.
The relationship between the clubs would be similar to that between Watford, Udinese and Granada, who are all owned by the Pozzo family.
However, Lazio issued a statement today categorically denying that any such contact had been made.
