Former Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has revealed on Twitter that it was an ‘honour’ to be at the club.

The Serbia international called time on his four-and-a-half year stint at Liverpool on transfer deadline day by joining Fulham on a free transfer [BBC Sport].

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who said it was a ‘brilliant’ move for the 24-year-old on Friday [YouTube channel], had informed Markovic that he was not part of his plans going forward.

He hadn’t kicked a ball for the Anfield side since May 2015, when Brendan Rodgers, who signed him, was in charge on Merseyside.

Fulham lost 2-0 at Crystal Palace on Saturday, but Markovic was not in the squad.

It might take time for Claudio Ranieri to build up his fitness and match sharpness, considering that Markovic has been playing for Liverpool’s Under-23 side as of late.

Being ready for Premier League action is another thing entirely and time will tell if winger can fulfill the promise he never justified on Merseyside.
