Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are reportedly battling Old Firm rivals Rangers to sign Championship goal-machine Lawrence Shankland in January.

Lawrence Shankland has been called up for the Scotland national team for the very first time, just days after the prolific Dundee United striker was linked with a January move to Celtic and Rangers.
After netting 63 goals in 74 games in two seasons at Ayr United, few thought that Shankland would be even more lethal inside the box at Tannadice.
Since joining Dundee United on a free transfer in July, however, the former St Mirren forward has netted 13 times in just seven league games and 15 in 12 overall. A hat-trick in Saturday’s 6-0 thrashing of Morton was clinically dispatched and, according to The Record, scouts from Celtic and Rangers were in the stands.
The Old Firm giants will certainly have been impressed by the way Shankland put Morton to the sword in clinical fashion. The Shields Gazette believes that Dundee United could be tempted to cash in if they receive a bid of £2 million, which could be money well spent.

And Shankland’s rapid rise is showing no sign of slowing either with Steve Clarke rewarding the 24-year-old with a first ever Scotland call-up ahead of October’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Russia and San Marino.
A first cap and a potential move to Celtic or Rangers; there are exciting times ahead for Shankland.
