Lawrence Shankland is a player in demand, with Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic reported to be interested in the Dundee United striker.
The Daily Record reported last month that both Rangers and Celtic had scouted Shankland’s during United’s match against Greenock Morton.
It was reported that Tosh McKinlay of Celtic and Billy McLaren of Rangers were present at Tannadice Park to watch the 24-year-old striker in action.
The former Aberdeen and Ayr United striker has been in brilliant form for United so far this season, and he did well for Scotland as well.
According to BBC Sport, the striker has scored 13 goals and provided two assists in the Scottish Championship for United so far this season.
Shankland scored on his first start for Scotland in the 6-0 win against San Marino on Sunday.
The striker found the net in the 65th minute, and the Scotland international’s comments on his goal will be encouraging for Rangers and Celtic.
Shankland has admitted that it was not the best of goals, but the 24-year-old striker’s eagerness and determination to find the net and his anticipation underline his quality.
If Rangers or Celtic sign the striker, then they will get a player who can anticipate and is always at the right place at the right time.
Shankland told The Scottish Sun: “San Marino let teams have the ball and I knew the boys would create things for me. It wasn’t the prettiest goal I’ve ever scored but I’ll take it.
“I followed up the shot because you need to anticipate it not going in. Scotty had a great strike and luckily I was in the right place to tuck it away.”
