LIV Golf has signed Laurie Canter, who was set to play on the PGA Tour next season after earning a card through the DP World Tour.

Canter, who already has 21 LIV events under his belt, joined the breakaway circuit for the first time in 2022.

And he has now been named as Henrik Stenson’s replacement at Majesticks GC. The Swede finished bottom of the team leaderboard last year and was relegated from the league as a result.

Canter has since spoken about his decision in an interview with the official LIV Golf website: “Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one.

“The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.

“To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honour, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition, and identity that really resonates with me. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building.”

LIV supporters react positively as Laurie Canter returns to tour

Canter is joining up with fellow Englishmen Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter at Majesticks, which many fans seem happy about.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented: “Great signing! Laurie will contend to win events in 2026,” while another kept it simple: “Good addition.”

Another fan added: “Good for Laurie, fill your boots, been around the game for a long time, watched him last year at the Belfry, can really give it a bang.”

There was more support as another said: “Welcome back Laurie. Great play on the DP Tour this year. Look forward to seeing you play next year again on LIV,” while someone else noted: “Turning down a PGA Tour card worked out quite well for [Tom] McKibbin this past year. Rooting for Canter to have similar success in 2026!”

McKibbin found himself in an almost identical spot just last season when he chose LIV over the PGA Tour.

The Northern Irishman recently booked his place at The Masters after winning the Hong Kong Open last month.
