Serge Aurier was involved with huge row with PSG manager while in France.
Paris Saint-Germain were happy to sell Serge Aurier to Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 in a £23 million deal.
The Ivory Coast right-back had slipped down the pecking order behind Thomas Meunier and Dani Alves, and a host of disciplinary issues had not helped his cause.
The most controversial came in 2016 when Aurier used Periscope and made a crude remark about manager at the time Laurent Blanc, also criticising some of his teammates, The Guardian reported.
Aurier was suspended by the club at the time but later brought back into the team.
Having since left PSG himself, Blanc has this week been speaking about the shameful episode and has hit out at the PSG hierarchy for not showing him more support.
Speaking to BFMTV, Blanc said: “A situation like this, it’s not up to the coach to manage it.
“In this type of problem, the direction must be on the same line as the coach. This case was a bad turn in our season and in the life of the club.”
He added: “Some players are unmanageable, and everything does not come out.”
To Aurier’s credit, there have been no issues at Tottenham Hotspur which have painted the defender in a bad light.
The right-back has had his struggles on the pitch at times. Off the field he appears to have learned from his mistakes and has a lot more admiration for Mauricio Pochettino than he did for Laurent Blanc.
