Laurens De Bock struggled at Leeds United after making the move to Elland Road in January.
Laurens De Bock’s encouraging start to pre-season suggests that Leeds United boss Marcel Bielsa may just be able to get him to perform at a higher level than Paul Heckingbottom managed.
De Bock was brought to Leeds in January in a deal worth £1.5 million (Yorkshire Evening Post), but he struggled to make an impact at Elland Road.
The defender looked off the pace, and was replaced in Leeds’ starting line-up by Tom Pearce by the time the season had finished.
However, De Bock’s performances over pre-season so far have been one of the more encouraging out of all of Leeds’ players.
Granted, the Whites are yet to take on any higher level opponents – but De Bock looked comfortable against both Southend United and York City.
With Leeds seemingly not targeting centre-backs, it could be that De Bock is used in a more central role this term.
And it may just be that Bielsa is the man who gets the very best out of the Belgian at Elland Road.
