Laura Woods has shared that she spoke to Mikel Arteta about Jack Wilshere being a coach and the Arsenal boss was talking in ‘glowing’ terms about the Englishman.

The talkSPORT host and Arsenal fan was at a private dinner with Mikel Arteta last night where she spoke about Jack Wilshere’s new role at the club.

After the 31-year-old hung up his boots, he decided to go into coaching, and within 12 months, he already has Arsenal’s U18s in the Youth Cup final.

The last time the Gunners lifted the trophy was in 2009 when Wilshere himself was part of that group.

Well, fast forward to the present, and he can guide the next generation of stars to glory, but West Ham United stand in their way.

Nonetheless, Laura Woods shares the conversation she had with Arteta about Wilshere, as she told talkSPORT Breakfast (19/04/23).

“We spoke about Jack Wilshere, who is with the youth team,” said Woods. “He got us to the FA Youth Cup final. I asked him about the qualities of Jack, so ‘do you see a future coach in him?’

“And he was glowing about Jack. He was really, really like ‘that’s a coach’.”

LIFE OFF THE FIELD

When Wilshere came through as a fresh-faced teenager under Arsene Wenger, there were high expectations for the technically-gifted midfielder.

That’s why his performance in THAT Barcelona game is still spoken about and that’s why he went on to represent his country on the international stage.

But, for one reason or another, his career went astray, but it seems as though he is starting to do some talking when it comes to coaching the next generation.
