Laura Woods questioned on talkSPORT whether the Tottenham job is a ‘step-up’ for Graham Potter.

Her question drew a frosty response from Jamie O’Hara who urged her to ‘shut up’ and claimed he wants Tottenham to hire the ‘really good’ manager.

The search for Jose Mourinho’s successor in North London is descending into a farce, in actual fact, it is a farce and there’s only one man to blame – Daniel Levy!

It’s over two months since Spurs sacked Mourinho, yet with name after name being linked, they aren’t any closer to appointing anyone.

And O’Hara urged his former club to be ‘realistic’ and suggested that Brighton’s man in the dugout is the one to take them forward.

“You have to be realistic in what you are going to get,” said O’Hara. “You are not going to get an Antonio Conte, so go back to the drawing board and re-build from scratch again, so get someone like Graham Potter, who is a really good manager.

“Would that be a step up for him?” questioned Woods.

“Oh, shut up, Laura,” responded O’Hara to her laughter. “That’s a step-up for him. It would be a good appointment. He plays good football. He will deal with the fact that he won’t have lots of money to spend. I think it will be a good appointment.”

With the search for the Tottenham manager job at a standstill, and probably going backwards more than anything, it seems as though Levy is going back to the drawing board.

And Potter is someone who those in North London are looking at, but they need to be wary that Everton are also looking at his coaching talents.

When Spurs finally appoint someone, they have to be a crowd-pleaser because if he’s not then the already under-fire Spurs boardroom will feel the wrath of the supporters when they are allowed back into stadiums.
