Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to the away crowd urging Nuno Espirito Santo to ‘make sub’ during their 1-0 win over Burnley in the League Cup on Wednesday night at Turf Moor.
In the first half, Spurs were forced into a substitution when Bryan Gil went off injured and then eventual goalscorer Lucas Moura replaced the Spaniard.
But, for large parts of the game, it was a bang average, slow and morale-sapping performance from Spurs.
Just before the hour mark, the away fans could be heard urging their manager ‘Nuno make a sub, Nuno, Nuno make a sub’.
Spurs registered zero shots on target against a Burnley side sitting in the relegation zone in the Premier League, so it’s understandable why they were so frustrated.
Well, on 66 minutes, Tanguy Nndombele and Heung-Min Son were introduced into the action.
Then, two minutes later, Moura’s downward header hit the back of the net and they all wheeled away in jubilation.
Even though the North London club progressed, the manner in which they are playing is a talking point amongst the fanbase.
The lack of risk-taking and forward-thinking is seemingly becoming a bit of a concern for the Hotspur Way faithful.
