Tyrone Mings was all smiles in training as the Aston Villa players, not on World Cup duty, returned to Bodymoor Heath on Saturday after a short break.

Unai Emery’s side will travel to Dubai next week to take part in some warm-weather training and Mings shared on his Instagram story that a certain Jacob Ramsey has been poking fun at him.

The £20 million England and Villa defender (BBC Sport) posted an image of him with a big smile on his face, added with the caption: “@Jacobramseyy Laughing at my first touch after a week off.”

VILLA BACK IN ACTION

Whilst Emiliano Martinez and Matty Cash prepare to lock horns in a crucial Group C 2022 World Cup showdown on Wednesday for Argentina and Poland, respectively, their teammates are back in the Midlands.

Unai Emery headed towards the recent break with back-to-back wins in the Premier League – Manchester United at home and then Brighton away.

With the January transfer window around the corner, it will be interesting to see who Emery will be looking to bring in.

Since his arrival, Mings and Ramsey have thrived, but now it’s a case of doing it on a consistent basis and not these stop-start performances.

But, in truth, that counts for most of the team, including those at the World Cup.

The long-term is to secure Europe, but for this season, if Villa show progression and star to push towards the top ten, then the fans will be pretty satisfied.
