Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react in horror at what Jermaine Jenas said about Steve Bruce, following his Manager of the Month award.
Speaking on BBC 5 Live (via the Chronicle), Jenas said: “I want him to take that Manager of the Month trophy out with him for a meal, plonk it on the table and hopefully a few journalists will pop in and have a look at it.”
Now, these comments are just foolish.
Of course, there’s no denying that Bruce deserves credit for his work throughout April.
Newcastle did brilliantly to take points from Tottenham and Liverpool, while also beating the in-form West Ham and Burnley.
However, these journalists Jenas refers to were well within their rights to criticise the Magpies boss before April.
It cannot be forgotten that Bruce oversaw just two wins in 19 Premier League games before beating Burnley 2-1 on April 11th.

That simply isn’t good enough.
If Fulham or West Brom were able to mount some sort of survival charge, then Newcastle would’ve been in great danger.
Bruce is just lucky that Steve Parker and Sam Allardyce’s sides were just that bit worse than Newcastle over the course of the campaign.

Understandably, the Newcastle fans are pretty annoyed at what Jenas said – he comes across as severely misinformed.
One good run of form shouldn’t gloss over the dire football Newcastle fans have had to endure for most of this season.
Let’s see how the Newcastle fans on Twitter reacted to his comments…
