West Brom appear to have signed an alternative to Leeds left-back Charlie Taylor.
Everton’s Brendan Galloway in action
West Bromwich Albion announced the signing of Everton defender Brendan Galloway on a season long loan, confirming the switch on their official website.
The left-back aims to play regular football at the Baggies, having made a breakthrough at the Toffees last season under former boss Roberto Martinez.
Perhaps forgotten amid the signing, is that the deal likely means the end of their pursuit of Leeds United player of the season Charlie Taylor.

The Express & Star reported the Baggies were considered favourites to sign Taylor earlier this summer, and this deal appears to rule them out of the race after Leeds’ firm stance he is not for sale.
Leeds are not totally in the clear, with The Yorkshire Evening Post reporting yesterday that Burnley and Middlesbrough have also registered interest, but the Baggies were thought to be leading the pack.
Taylor told the paper he is looking forward to the transfer window closing so that he will know one way or another where his immediate future lies, and has full support from head coach Garry Monk, who has picked him for every game this season.
The left-back’s contract expires in June and he does not appear to be close to even negotiating over a new deal, but West Brom’s acquisition of Galloway indicates they have shelved their interest for a year, and while they may return for him as a free agent next summer, Leeds fans can be hopeful their star defender can yet be convinced to stay.
