West Ham could reportedly be without star defender Kurt Zouma for the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday against Brentford.
According to the Evening Standard, the French international could be missing for the final weeks of the campaign after Zouma was injured in West Ham’s 2-0 loss against the Bees over the weekend.
The update on the centre-back, if proven true, will be a huge blow for the Hammers’ and their end of season ambitions, with West Ham looking to progress to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals and finish in a top-seven Premier League spot.
Zouma, a £30m signing from Chelsea last summer as reported by Sky Sports News, has been influential for the Irons since his arrival to east London, and this latest injury update could be devastating for West Ham.
However, Zouma was picked up an ankle injury against Brentford in West Ham’s latest Premier League fixture which saw the defender forced off, and progress on the problem has not been positive.
Indeed, with West Ham’s depth at centre-back quite shallow, David Moyes’ side could struggle in the remaining weeks of the campaign where so much is at stake, namely another spot in a European competition for next season.
Zouma injury latest is the last thing West Ham needed this week

With the second-leg against Olympique Lyonnais taking part this Thursday and a huge clash against Burnley coming up on Sunday, Zouma’s injury latest is the last thing West Ham needed this week.
The pressure is starting to crack up for the Irons, and with a European spot slipping from their fingers and a win needed in France to progress to the Europa League semi-finals, Zouma’s injury has come at the worst possible time.
