The Sunderland defender and unemployed Polish boss have emerged over the past 24 hours.

A couple of left-field candidates have emerged as contenders for the Sunderland manager’s job over the past 24 hours.
Long-term favourite Derek McInnes [11/8] continues to lead the way, with Simon Grayson [15/8] and Nigel Pearson [5/1] second and third respectively on Sky Bet‘s list of likely appointments.
Below the trio, however, are current Sunderland defender John O’Shea [14/1] and Czesław Michniewicz [18/1], whose Wikipedia page refers to him – without citation – as the ‘Polish Mourinho’.

O’Shea, whose playing contract expires this summer, was linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the week.
However, a change to kick-off his coaching career at the club at which he’s spent the past six years could appeal to the Irishman – although the prospect is seemingly unlikely at this stage.

Michniewicz, meanwhile, is out of work after leaving Polish top flight side Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza earlier this year.
The 47-year-old has managed a total of nine clubs in his homeland, lasting on avaerage little under a year at each, and enjoyed early success with Lech Poznan.
