Leeds United have signed young goalkeeper Will Huffer to a professional deal.
Leeds United yesterday announced that talented goalkeeper Will Huffer has signed professional terms with the club.
Huffer signing a pro contract highlights the strength Leeds have on their books, despite losing one top talent to Manchester United earlier this year.
Theo Richardson was tempted away from Leeds to Manchester United, with The Mail reporting the switch in June.
At the Red Devils this season he has mainly been used as a back-up for their under-18s side.
Yet this hasn’t been to Leeds’ detriment. They already have Bailey Peacock-Farrell coming through their academy, and he already has one first team game under his belt.
Huffer is pushing too, but even his place in the under-18s and under-23s has been under threat from another England youth international goalkeeper, Harrison Male, who turned 17 this September.
Leeds have a trio of very talented young goalkeepers, who are all hoping to one day make an imprint on the first team.
It is too early to say which one of them will turn out to be the best, but the competition between them will only help, and with Leeds’ first team’s goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald failing to convince he is the long term answer, perhaps one of them will get a shot sooner than otherwise expected.
