The Celtic boss reportedly wanted Arsenal’s Akpom at Liverpool.
And though the rumour has since been quashed in some places, it should come as little surprise to see Celtic listed among the interested parties.

Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers is, it seems, a long-term admirer of Akpom, having first been linked with a move for the 21-year-old in January 2015, again by The Daily Mirror.
Back then Rodgers was leading Liverpool, while Akpom was in the final six months of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
But any hope the Ulsterman had of doing a cut-price deal for the England Under-21 star was dashed the following month, as Arsenal successfully tied him to a new four-year contract.
Having failed to kick on since then, though – Akpom wasn’t used as often as he would have liked during spells at Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Brighton & Hove Albion – it is claimed the Londoner is ready to quit the Gunners after 15 years, and Rodgers could make it second time lucky at Celtic.
