Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool have a few minor fitness problems heading into their game against Southampton on Saturday.

Aside from the obvious absentees such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip, Klopp says that Liverpool have had a few bumps and bruises this week and that late decisions will have to be made on certain players.

The German remained coy, refusing to name which players are struggling, but it sounds as though Liverpool could be forced into a bit of rotation.

“The injury situation there is nothing really new We have a few bumps and bruises, so we have to make some late decisions on a few positions tomorrow,” Klopp said.

Luckily there was good news to follow as Klopp gave a positive update on Jordan Henderson’s recovery.

“Hendo, while we are sitting here he is running outside. That’s all I can say, he’s not in team training yet, that’s it.”

It will be interesting to see Liverpool’s starting Xi on Saturday, that’s for sure.

The fact that Klopp says that there are late decisions to be made on a few positions doesn’t bode well for the Reds, and at this point of the season, every single game is like a cup final.

Liverpool still have an outside chance of making the top four, but in order to do so they must avoid dropping points, and in order to do that they need to avoid any fitness problems.

Fingers crossed these bumps and bruises subside in time for the game against Southampton.
